There I was, sitting on my sofa, trying to figure out how long it would take me to make a quick run to the store to get more cherries, (never mind that I just chewed down about two pounds of them😏), when it dawned on me that I am craving a different fruit . 😧😧😧
Not too long ago, I would jump for joy at the receipt of a mango. Now, cherries are the initiators to taste bud dancing and mouth salivating. 🤤🤤🤤
That’s right folks, I have “fruitacravia” [fruit-ta-craav-vi-a] noun – The act of craving different fruits as the seasons, months, weather, and or mood changes (Melody’s Dictionary).
As I thought about my fruitacravia condition, I couldn’t help but think of the spiritual fruit; the fruit of the spirit. I wondered if I crave its filling as I am now craving cherries.
In Galatians 5: 22 – 23, Paul referenced the ultimate fruit. Although there are nine of them, Paul specifically said fruit, and not fruits. Why? I believe it’s because they all come together to produce a single work; living out Christ’s will for our lives. When we are filled with the Holy Spirit, the fruit of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control is given to us as a whole package. All of these are the fruit of a life lived for Jesus and guided by the Holy Spirit.
Do we crave the fruit of the spirit like we crave satisfaction from physical food?🤔Both are really apple and oranges. Rather, do people see the fruit of the spirit in you, or do they always see someone who is quick to go bananas?
A life filled with the Spirit of God will produce a fruit that is sweet and will draw people to God, not a fruit that is sour and will turn people away.
What fruit does your life produce? Take a bite at the cherry, and become he who God wants you to be; the apple of His eyes.
Merry Melodious Melody
Take my life and let it be consecrate it Lord to Thee. A life that is consecrated will bloom where it’s planted and produces good fruits. Make me new Lord in your righteousness, so I can produce fruits of righteousness.
