I’m not a big fan of sweets, but if I were to be pressured into buying some, I’d definitely buy some skittles.

It’s probably one of the worst candies to eat, but the colorful flavors are super attractive to both my eyes and my taste buds. With skittles you can experience a jolt of five intense rainbow flavors. From classic original delicious flavors to jaw watering sour patches, to dancing wild-berry, crushed grape and many more. Eating skittles is quite the experience. 😋

The slogan for skittles is; TASTE THE RAINBOW. I know right? Fitting, I’d say. But, this week as I looked at the pack which has been sitting in my work lunchbox for months, I began to think about that slogan. 🤔

The book of Genesis chapter nine tells us about a covenant that God made to never destroy earth with flood again. He placed a rainbow in the sky to remind us of that promise🌈. When you think of such a thing, you can’t help but to be amazed at this event, especially when you see an actual rainbow in the sky. Somehow, skittles had me thinking about the promises of God. 😌

Soon after I popped about three flavors in my mouth, and nodded my head in agreement that they do give your mouth quite the experience,🥲 the obvious question popped into my mind; “How do I taste the promises of God?

According to the dictionary, taste means to become acquainted with by experience. Mmmmhh Taste the rainbow? In that moment of mouthwatering joy🥲, skittles was telling me that the greatest joy one can have is becoming acquainted with God’s promises. In other words, get to experience God promises.

His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.

2 Peter 1:3–4

I have surely experienced some of His promises, and the experience has been well beyond that which skittles gave me. I’ve been tasting rainbows all my Christian life. The thing about my God’s calling is that once you start to follow Him, it’s a glorious experience. I have claimed His promises many times, and sure enough, He kept them. He promised comfort, I got it, He promised to make a way, He continually does, He promised protection, I’m covered. If I’m in need of anything, I know my God can get it for me because He promised that He would, and He has never broken a promise. Yep, I have tasted the rainbow, not because I’ve eaten Skittles, but because I have become acquainted with Jesus through experience.

Today, I want to invite some, and remind many, to taste the rainbow 🌈. Know through your experiences that our hope in God is surer than the sun rising in the morning.

“Tomorrow morning if you wake up and the sun does not appear, [He] will be here
Tomorrow morning, if you wake up and the future is unclear [He] will be here.”

Steven Chapman

Those lyrics remind us that God is the beginning and He’s the end. He’s the Alpha and Omega.
Psalm 119:114 says “Thou art my hiding place and my shield: I hope in thy word.” There is nothing on this earth more certain than hope in God. He will never leave us nor will He ever forsake us. Taste the rainbow! 🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈

Experience God’s colorful and flavorful promises, they are far better than candy. God’s kingdom will last longer than the longest lasting gum, the biggest jaw breaker. Serving Him brings more joy than any jolly rancher. He’s the real life saver. Taste the rainbow, one flavor at a time!

  1. I love the morning nuggets it’s inspirational and inspiring no matter what mood you wake up in it will surely put a smile on your face and leave you feeling relaxed

  2. Unlike you I love candy! If I were to transfer one thing about my candy eating is – I can’t stop until they are all gone. If that is transferred to my desire for God’s promises, I will have a never ending desire and thirst for his word because God’s promises are limitless.

  3. Thanks for the inspirational thoughts and the contrast associated with the skittles and God’s promises, food for thought.

  4. I too, like David is calling for others to come and magnify the Lord with me. Oh taste and see that the Lord is good! Blessed is the man that trusteth in Him. I’ve tasted and I’ve proved him.I’m in agreement with everything you’ve said.Jesus name so sweet.Emanuel name so sweet, every rock I rock upon Jesus I’m sheltered and protected. What a God!!

  5. God has given us so much more than we deserve we can join with the Psalmist David when he says
Oh taste and see that the Lord is good Blessed is the man that trusted in him in other words we have to taste for ourselves then we can share with others instead of keeping all for ourselves.
    May God help us all
