As I scrolled through the channels of my TV to watch something entertaining, my mind brought me back to something I heard at church recently. The speaker oddly mentioned a movie in his sermon. He began to tell us about his experience watching one of his favorite movies at the movie theatre in his young age- The Karate Kid.
You remember that one, right? It’s the one with Will Smith’s son, Jaden Smith. Well, the plot goes like this,
…when his mother’s career results in a move to China, 12-year-old Dre Parker (Jaden Smith) finds that he is a stranger in a strange land. Though he knows a little karate, his fighting skills are no match for Cheng, the school bully. Dre finds a friend in Mr. Hj Youan (Jackie Chan), a maintenance man who is also a martial-arts master. Mr. Han teaches Dre all about kung fu in the hope that Dre will be able to face down Cheng and perhaps win the heart of a pretty classmate named Mei Ying. At the tournament, Dre slowly moves from one level to the next, to the semi-finals. When his opponents see that he was a force to reckon with, added to the fact that he was a foreigner, surpassing the locals at their own cultural event, they decide to break his leg.
Pause—-
Actually, it was a literal pause for the speaker who was telling us his story. At the time when he was watching the movie, the movie operators decided to stop the movie for an intermission, at this scene!
As a hyped up young Karate fan, Mr. Preacher(who wasn’t a preacher at the time) wasn’t too happy about this “insensitivity” to his engagement. He was livid!
He didn’t want to finish watching the movie because he felt that the movie makes no sense at this point. It was just not the end he was hoping for. His sister, who accompanied him to the movie theatre, tried to calm him down, but his anger was through the roof. He wanted to leave immediately. After much effort to get him calm, she finally got his attention when she yelled, “Jaden Smith can’t lose!”
With curiosity, he asked his sister how she knew this. Her response is the reason I’m here thinking about the movie. She said, “Jaden Smith cannot lose because his father is the producer.”
Dwl! (Dying with laughter) I know right?
I researched it, Jaden’s dad, Will Smith, was one of the producers indeed.
In his movie buster moment, when it seemed to him that his money, time, and buoyed up interest were wasted, with the words of his sister sinking in, Mr. Preacher’s anger disappeared immediately, and joy, hope, and excitement took over.
He understood, that if the hero’s father was the producer, then there’s no way he’d allow his son to face defeat.
The message here is obvious isn’t it? Friends, just when you think it’s all over; just when you’re down and out; when you’ve been beaten by the system, family members, friends; when circumstances cripple and dampen your ability to fight the good fight, when you have your last dime; when you’ve ran out of steam, patience, faith, assurance, hope, vision, and when you are facing your mountain, your giant, your battle, don’t give in. Don’t you drop out of the fight, your Aba – your Father, your Maker, your God, -is the Producer of this movie! He won’t let you lose to the enemy. The script is already written. You may not know how your movie ends, but with God as the producer, there has to be a happy ending.
"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11.
My God is the producer of this movie. The script was written way ahead of time. Like a movie producer, God did the prep work, built the sets, got the casting ready, and financed our great, big movie buster. Trust Him.
Just when the enemy think he had you cornered, flip the script, and surprise the viewers.
SHOW TIME!!
I have a Father who will never ever fails me he walks besides me , he never, never leaves me nor forsake me he knows the wayward steps I take
When I am sad he makes me glad .
My Father planned it all and whenever I get discouraged I can build up my faith in my FATHER to know he planned it all
Jeremiah 29:11 says
I know the plans I have for you
Thoughts of Peace and not of evil ,to give an expected end .
Thank you heavenly FATHER
This really got me . God did flip my script . I needed to be reassured and reminded of who the producer is . Oh how I’m happy to know that he has me covered , when my leg is broken and I’m limping he’s got me . Thanks Mel🤗
