Has the devil ever snatched something real special from you? And not just any type of snatch; because some devil snatches are expected, but I’m talking about the kind of snatch without warning; as though whatever he snatched was his in the first place. It’s as though he was the one who gave it to you for safe keeping, and without warning, he took what was his. And the worst part about it is that Jesus allowed him to do it! As if Jesus just stood there and watched him do it. As a faithful Christian, you’re there standing with your mouth opened in disbelief, “like, say what now?”
And right in your face, the snatcher -the devil, jeers, taunts laughs, and dances, and chants na na boo boo as he juggles your stolen valuables in his hand.
I’ve found myself at this scene not too long ago. The devil stole something valuable from me, and I felt as though Jesus let it happen. Some people would get mad, and demand that Michael stands up (you know what happened when Michael stands up, don’t you? When Michael stands up, the battle is already won!). Needless to say, Michael didn’t stand up. I prayed, fasted, begged, pleaded, and claimed God’s promises, yet He didn’t take back what the devil stole from me.
Now, don’t get me wrong, I know all too well not to doubt or give up on God, so the only logical conclusion I came up with was that there is a lesson, a purpose, a reason Jesus allowed the devil to snatch my “joy”. This is the part where many of us fail, the part where many of us give up.
I wondered for days how my situation would work out for my good. I wanted details, “God, how long must I go through this; how much must I bear for things to turn out for my good?”
I imagined Job wanted details as well. Joseph must have been mentally destroyed when he was placed in his situation. He must have asked God, “how exactly is my imprisonment going to work out for my good?”
Today, I want to talk to people who find themselves in that rot, in that place, where you feel like you’ve been held captive, and you can’t get out no matter what. To make matters worst, things just seem to be getting worst, not better! And your situation baffles you.
Today, I want to encourage you to stop and think; could the Lord have placed you there for a specific reason? For a specific purpose; a purpose to expose the gifts really hidden inside of you; a purpose such as unlocking the faith that is covered by a comfortable Christian life? Often times, we’re so focused on the negative, so we don’t see the positive in our negative situations. We don’t see what God is trying to do. Could it be that the reason for this difficulty, is for God to reveal how real he is to you?
Friends, if we learn how to change our perspective, – if we learn how to walk by faith and not by sight, -if we open our spiritual eyes and change the way we see things, then we’ll be able to see the salvation of our Lord.
So instead of asking, “when will things turn around for my good?”, we should start asking, “Lord, what do you want me to learn from this?”
See, I know who I have in my corner. I know and have felt His power! I know and have experienced His unlimited power that have changed my dire circumstances in the wink of an eye. If God chooses not to fix it, change it, turn it away, remove it, stop it, then I need to stay focused. We need to look deeper, pray for discernment, see with a spiritual eye. There is a reason, a purpose, a lesson for you. So instead of focusing on the rough cloud, the storm that is rocking your being, let’s keep our eyes on the sailor sitting beside us on that boat.
Friends, with the help of the Holy Spirit, let’s seek to change our mindset, shift our perspective, activate our faith, see His glory, even in the storm. When people are looking at our pitiful, wretched, negative situation, look on Jesus.
This storm you’re facing is for a specific reason and a specific season. If God hasn’t fixed it, it’s not time for it to be fixed; perhaps it’s not the situation that needs fixing, it’s you!
What you face is painful and unpleasant but one thing remains true, we serve a compassionate and loving God.
Say it with me, “Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” (Psalm 23: 4)
In other words, even though it appears to be over, I will fear no evil, because God is with me.
And… if God be with us, who can be against us?
So while the devil chants, na nana boo boo with my temporary joy, I’m keeping my eyes fixed on my permanent joy; the purpose for which Jesus is preparing me for…My Godly purpose.
As I write these final lines, out of the blue, this line came loud from a sermon in the background, “The disease is dreadful, but the cure is sure.”
What a God?
Your friend in Christ,

Good morning this speaks to me even brought up some pain that I thought had passed . As you said I’ve prayed , fasted , claim every promise and accept his purpose for my good ,I asked God to show me what is it I’m doing that I shouldn’t be doing , what I’m not doing that I should be doing , what do you want me to learn or unlearn all the questions . Ive Quoted all the promises , read them back to him, and still looking / listening for an answer . Mel I’m waiting patiently on the Lord to renew my strength and for the final results . Thank you .
We all have been through something. we have an enemy who hates us. He wants us to doubt God and give up and seek after other gods. But down on my knees I cried out to God and said I have reached too far to turn back so please do something and he heard me from Heaven his dwelling place and answered me. Glory to his name Hallelujah. Never give up. He is the same yesterday, today and forever more . His Grace is sufficient.
Wow! That’s a mouthful right there. If I was nearby you I would give you a hand shake, I really, really, really needed to hear this! Thank you very much Melody. At this time I am holding on to hope that won’t fade.
