I’ve been studying some material on crucibles and how the Christian will be tested, tried, and purified.

It’s quite an interesting lesson. As I review these lessons each week, and as they get deeper and deeper in their unfolding of scriptures, I’m always made to reflect on one of the elements of the fruit of the spirit- Peace.

Like salvation, love, joy, and so many others, it’s one of those precious gifts from God.

Jesus said in John fourteen, verse twenty-seven; “Peace I leave with you; My [own] peace I now give and bequeath to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. [Stop allowing yourselves to be agitated and disturbed; and do not permit yourselves to be fearful and intimidated and cowardly and unsettled.]” -Amplified Bible

Yikes! Did you notice how Jesus clarified and made plain the type of peace He gave His followers then, and by extension, you and me today? “MY PEACE, HIS PEACE!   I got excited when I read that part. I even re-read with much emphasis and pizzazz. Then I was like, “But what makes His peace different from that of the world’s?”

The disciples saw Him faced many trials and confrontations with men, demons, and satan himself. But He had been unflappable, He had peace.  And it’s not because he was the Son of God, full of the Holy Spirit; I found that His peace came from God through prayer, fasting, and submission.  (Mk 1:35).

Although it isn’t always easy, the devil sometimes snatch this peace away from me. But I’ve always gotten it back when I go on my knees.

For many people, peace can mean the absence of conflict or trouble. But we know all too well that in today’s world trails are inevitable. This peace that Jesus was talking about means rest, quiet, or a stillness in your heart, even while you’re faced with your crucible.

His peace gives you the ability to endure and be calm even in the face of your storms. His peace doesn’t eliminate conflict or trouble, but gives you the ability to endure it.

I’m claiming this gift today, and I want you to do the same. Pray for it, hold on to it, and don’t let the devil snatch it away.

Peace out.

  1. Welcome back!! The only real peace that I have dear Lord is in you. Thank you Jesus.
What gift of grace is Jesus my Redeemer! No matter what storm clouds may rock this ship of mine, I know my Saviour will give me peace in the midst of the store. Thank you Jesus 🙏

    1. This peace, His Peace I need. I should have read this before. A crucible opened up before me recently and I quickly and cowardly closed the door in fear. Had I the peace of God I would have bravely entered endured.

  2. Peace, peace! Wonderful peace! This is a natural outflow of an intimacy shared with my heavenly Father as Jesus lives out His perfect life in me. It’s no longer I who lives, but Christ who lives within me. Praise God…the Prince of Peace is resident in my heart!

  3. Jesus said when he was leaving this earth
Peace I leave with you my Peace I give unto you not as the world giveth so this tells me only Jesus can give this kind of peace the apostles could not give it no one can only JESUS
Let us rely on him for the peace that he gives which surpasses all understanding
May God help us all to develop this PEACE so we can inherit eternal life where there will be peace for evermore may God Bless us all 🙏🙏
