Have you ever found yourself in awe of God?

Well, I woke up in the wee hours of the morning, spellbound by His majestic love. And it wasn’t because of my possessions. I couldn’t see the furniture in my room, didn’t smell food cooking, didn’t hear water running, or the pitter patter of my love ones footsteps, neither did I see the reflection of my image in a mirror. Friends, right there, in that moment, in the stillness of the night, His love engulfed my very being.

Like a surge of tidal waves rushing into land, questions flooded my mind….

“What did I ever do to deserve it?”

“Why me; this wretched filthy sinful being?”

“How am I deserving?”

As if inanimate objects heard my thoughts, the kitchen refrigerator motor, and the roaring air conditioner unit suddenly sliced the silence and bellowed with a rousing answer, “NOTHING!”

In that moment, I was reminded that God’s love is the purest form of love. It’s consistent; it’s not based on anything we’ve done or will do. God’s love is unconditional! And that realization, my friends, was surely overwhelming! The fact that God loves us, despite ourselves, is incredible. I’ve never been loved that purely in my life, and I don’t think I ever will be.

“This is love”, said John, “not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.” 1 John 4:10.

Guys, for me, that’s enough to make it my life’s mission to love Him back!

In my spellbound moment, I quickly reached for my phone and found a Bible text that would somehow explain it all. Sure enough, right there in the 103rd division of the Psalms, David had penned it so beautifully.

Like a sweet-toothed child released in candy world, I eased up in bed, rested my torso on two pillows, took on a posture as though I was relaxing on a beach chair- on a white sandy beach- on a Caribbean island paradise, folded my hand across my chest, gave in to the big grin that took over my face, and basked in the lyrics of the song…

🎶 “There’s the wonder of sunset at evening,

The wonder as sunrise I see;

But the wonder of wonders that thrills my soul,

Is the wonder that God loves me.

There’s the wonder of springtime and harvest,

The sky, the stars, and the sun;

But the wonder of wonders that thrills my soul is a wonder that’s just begun.

O, the wonder of it all! The wonder of it all!

Just to think that God loves me.

O, the wonder of it all!

The wonder of it all!

Just to think that God loves me.

Just to think that God loves me.” 🎶🎶

By the 5th go around singing the song in my head, I nodded off with joy in my heart, saying, “…and that’s enough for me to go on just a little bit longer!”

It was a beautiful moment that I wished everyone could experience.

Have you truly caught a glimpse of His love?

“Oh the wonder of it all!”
